Every day is a new opportunity to do something bigger and greater for God. Our days are numbered, but we shouldn’t be limited by age. Throughout the ages God has used the young AND old to carry out his will. Let’s take a look at some of the most well-known in the bible:

  • Mary the Mother of Jesus was a teenager when she conceived and gave birth
  • David was just a young Shepherd boy when he defeated Goliath
  • Meshach, Abednego and Shadrach are believed to have been young teenagers when they refused to bow to Nebuchadnezzar
  • Many of the disciples were young men being trained up as leaders of the Faith
  • Moses was 80 when God put the call on his life to set his people free
  • Sarai conceived when she was 100 with Abrams promised son
  • Caleb was ready to fight for the Promised Land at the age of 85

You can see that God doesn’t discriminate when it comes to asking His children to carry out His will. You’re here to make an ongoing difference and an impact. You might not know why, or how that will come into fruition. However, rest assured that when we trust in and submit to Him, God will make our paths straight (Proverbs 3: 5-6). It doesn’t matter what age you are, God will use you! He has a purpose for all of us, every day. We have a choice to listen to the promptings that He gives us through the Word and Holy Spirit  (2 Timothy 3:16, 17 & 1 Corinthians 3:16). Will you listen?

Just because you might be younger, it doesn’t mean you should slack off in anticipation for what you might do one day. There’s no time like the present to get into it! Nor does it mean that you put your foot on the brakes when you’ve passed that fruitful season that you look back on. The fruit doesn’t have to stop there.

You’re Never Too Old Or Young 1

Perhaps the greatest mission of your life is still on its way.

God might be using your current situation to instil characteristics that you need to carry out a greater task in the future. Perhaps you’re training for the mission field and you’re in a phase of preparation. You might think that you’ve done enough for God throughout the years – this may be true, but every day you’re on this Earth means that something better is yet to come.

If you’re reading this, it means that perhaps the greatest mission of your life is still on its way. As you get older, God isn’t going to let your wisdom and experience go to waste – He’s got a Kingdom to build and he wants you to contribute! Your contribution may look different as the seasons change, but none the less it’s valued and an integral part of Gods plan. Don’t number your days or let previous achievements stop you from having new ones.

You’re never too young or old to start on your life calling.

–  Matthew 28:19

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
